Fidelity #33 Rebekah Lodge September meeting

-

On September 19, the members of Fidelity #33 Rebekah Lodge met at the home of their Secretary, Evelyn, in North Hatley. Noble Grand Lorinda Hadley opened the meeting “in form” with 9 members in attendance.

Under the sick/distress we learned that we lost an International Past President, Betty C. Moates, and also a very special Past Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Quebec, Frank Matthews. All expressed sadness at this news and our Charter was draped in honour of the Internatiomnal President. At this time we also learned that our own precious member Gertrude Ketcham is in the Manoir Stanstead- not mobile.

Ernestine and Arnold visited Gertrude and found her in good spirits but wishing she could be in her own home. Since she could not keep her precious Willow cat, Ernestine presented her with a stuffed cat that cries “meow” when you push on her back. Gertrude named it Willow 2. While there we also got to see Madelyn Curtis who was a Past President; Thelma Picken who is a Past President; and Linda Sayers who is a member of Unity #8 Odd Fellows.

We all had a good time talking about old times and greeting other residents. Many residents recognized us although we did not know all of them, we had a good time talking with them.

Special event was to celebrate September birthdays of which Evelyn’s is one. Her granddaughter Maggy Gauthier showed up and we asked her to stay for lunch. She had her application for the Fern Dezan Bursary as she is furthering her education going in for Criminology course. We wish her every success. Another young lady, Barbara’s granddaughter, Mari-ann Burrows, is also receiving a donation as she pursues her course, in the medical field. They are very fine young women and we are certain they will do us proud! We also gave a donation to the ACES Breakfast Program as did Alexandra #59 and Victoria #16 Odd Fellows. All three lodges also gave to 4H Provincial Rally held in June, and what a show these young farmers put on!!

Evelyn’s cake was baked by Arnold and decorated by Tina. Have a great one Evie!!
