New parking system next week for CIUSSS

- Record Staff

New parking meters in the parking lots of the CIUSSS de l'estrie CHUS will be installed as of next week, between October 16 and 26. These devices will change the usage patterns of users and visitors and will include the elimination of booths.

In addition, the meters will allow the transferability of parking permits from one facility to another as payment will be associated with the vehicle rather than the space, a press release says. Users will also be able to use a mobile application to pay for or add time to their permit without having to go back to the meter.

These changes will take place on October 17, 18 and 19 at the Fleurimont and Hôtel-dieu, hospitals.

In addition to signage, instructions and the "help" button on the parking meters, people will be present in the parking lots for a month where the new meters will be installed in order to facilitate the transition for users.

As of the date of installation, the blue signs that are currently covered will become applicable. "Users who do not comply with the new rules are subject to a fine issued by external suppliers that the CIUSSS of the Eastern Townships - CHUS will not have the power to cancel," the release continues.

New parking rates already in force and the addition of seven paid parking lots throughout the territory follow the introduction of a new policy on parking and sustainable mobility adopted on April 1, which took into account the ministerial requirement that parking should be self-financing, the environment and location of the facilities, the types of care and services provided, the principle of fairness to users and members of the internal community who have to obtain a permit to use the parking lot.
