- Record Staff

After several years of waiting and taking action, the Commission Scolaire de la Région de Sherbrooke (CSRS) has finally been able to inaugurate the RBC Stadium, its new multi-sports synthetic surface.

"I look forward to the arrival of this new infrastructure for our students. The realization of this project is excellent news for us,” said CSRS Chair Gilles Normand. “This facility will allow our students to enjoy a state-of-the-art venue,"

Located behind the school board’s administrative center, the RBC Stadium has:

• A regulation-sized soccer and football field;

• A 400-meter, 4-lane, paved training track, including a 100-meter, 6-lane section;

• Six lighting fixtures;

• An electronic scoreboard;

• A platform for 800 people, with a press gallery;

• A welcome portal at the entrance to the site.

According to the school board, the new acquisition constitutes not only a magnificent playground but also an important lever to foster the perseverance of CSRS students.

Completed at a cost of $3.2 million, the project received financial support from the Government of Quebec, RBC, and several sports partnerships.

The board also hopes to similarly equip de la Montée, Mitchell-montcalm, and du Phare schools at a later date.
