Local Chapters Celebrate at Grand Chapter - Eastern Star

The Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star was held in Le Hotel Castel, Granby on October 12 & 13, 2017 with members attending from other parts of Canada and the United States. Beside the business end of it, time was available to visit with both old and new friends. A beautiful memorial service was held in memory of past members and the Farewell Dinner on Thursday night for Worthy Grand Matron Sandra Ewart and Worthy Grand Patron Barry Yaxley was a pleasure to attend, Doctor Kevin Petrecca of The Brain Tumour Research Center receive a sizeable cheque, but as other money was to be received, the final count will be noted in the coming weeks.

On Friday night at the Open Installation of the new Grand family, Cowansville Chapter #17 had much to celebrate as four of the members joined the Grand Family. Brothers Bryan Mitchell P.P. became Worthy Grand Patron with Sister Helen Black (Victory Chapter #34) as Worthy Grand Matron, Ernest Bradley Grand Warder, Sisters Donna Mitchell P.M. Grand Chaplain and Rose Highfield W.M. Grand Esther. Sister Janet Patch PM Owl’s Head #35 was installed as Associate Grand Matron and Sister Donna Jenne Maple Leaf Chapter #2 as Grand Ruth. Sister Beverley Sanborn P.G.M. was the Installing Grand Marshall and did the work beautifully. A guest remarked about how impressed she was with the ceremony. Following the Installation a reception was held to celebrate the new Grand family and thank the Past Grands for their great year.
