The Washboard Union controlled the stage at Centennial
The Washboard Union graced the stage of the Centennial this last Sunday night. Many of the concert goers didn’t really know this group who won ‘Roots Artist of the Year’ at the last CCMA, but walked out wanting to buy their CDS and promising themselves to see them again as soon as possible.
The Washboard Union performed a fantastic show. The trio composed of Aaron Grain, Chris Duncombe, and Dave Roberts are really in total control of their stage and their artistry. They are dynamic, talented, comical, and totally unique.
Their music comes as a blend of diverse influences, a mix of traditional sound, contemporary country, as well as a pinch of bluegrass. The result is positively breathtaking. The chemistry between the singers and their three-part harmonies is just a real treat, a pure delight.
During this event in collaboration with Firehouse Productions, we collected non-perishable items for Moisson Estrie. I must say it was a success. This was just a perfect evening of music and getting together to help those in need. Thanks to all the generous donors. One more time, you proved that when it comes to helping others, country music fans are the best.
Kyle Dunn, a Canadian country singer, opened for The Washboard Union. The young man from Kingston, Ontario is very talented. He is definitely walking on the path of success.
François Gilbert announced that the next show would feature Canadian country singer Gord Bamford. Bamford will perform at the Centennial on February 8, 2018. The tickets are already on sale at the Centennial or on www.ovation.qc.ca. Marty Stuart celebrates anniversary Grammy Award-winning Marty Stuart will celebrate his 25th anniversary as a Grand Ole Opry member. Stuart was inducted in the Opry family on November 28, 1992, some 20 years after he first played the Opry stage at 13 years old as a band member for the legendary Lester Flatt.
Stuart is regarded as one of country music’s biggest talents worldwide. The Mississippi native once said, “The Opry is a way of life. It’s an institution that gets passed on every weekend. If you’re going to be a country performer, the Opry is the place to be.”
The five-time Grammy winner continues to record and release relevant music. He honours the past legacy while advancing it into the future. Earlier this year he released his 18th studio album, Way Out West. The album was named one of the ‘Best Americana Albums of the Year.’
