WATERVILLE/NORTH HATLEY

Waterville/north Hatley United Church, Sunday, December 3, 11 a.m. Service with Rev. Mead Baldwin. Sunday School. 819-837-1112. assisted With broken hearts, the family of James (Jimmy) Piper announce his passing in Terrace, BC on October 19, 2017 at the age of 74 years. Jim was predeceased by both his parents, Maybelle and Frederick Piper.

Jimmy was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec but lived in many communities throughout the townships before settling in Waterville after meeting his life-mate, Betty Ann (nee Sylvester). Jimmy and Betty Ann were married in North Hatley in June 1966 and went on to have two children; Keith (1968) and Krystal (1969).

Jimmy and Betty Ann met at Ives Hill in 1960 while he was playing music with Sam Hopper’s band. Later, Jimmy formed a band with Albert Nutbrown before eventually starting ‘Jimmy Piper & the Country Road Runners’. Jimmy devoted his time to his family, his music, and the community as a scout master, ball coach, and friend to many, until the family moved to BC in 1972. While living in BC, Jimmy and Betty Ann “adopted” three more children (Gabriela, Sabina, and Andrew). Jim touched many lives with his teasing ways, his huge heart, and his open arms. He has left behind many people who love him, including his wife of 51 years, Betty, his older sister Margaret, his children, Keith (Krystyna), Krystal (Chad), Gaby (Mike), Sabina (Doug), and Andrew (Janelle), his grandchildren, Kaz (Megan), Xzavyyr, Trillium, Topaz, Amethyst, Onyx, Luca, Karla, Jacquie, John, Danny, Chanice, Jacob, his great-grandchildren Mikayla, Aurora, Violet, brothers in law, sisters in law, numerous nieces and nephews and countless others that have come into Jim’s life that he considered family.

A memorial was held November 5th at the Thornhill Volunteer Fire Department where Jim was a founding member, chief (1976-1984), and honourary member until his passing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the TFVD for the purchase of pet oxygen masks. To date the family has gratefully received enough to purchase 9 masks.

Your wife MARJORIE CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN

Beryl Muriel (née Kirkpatrick) was born at home in Knicky Knocky near Bury, Que., on June 29, 1927. The only daughter of Archibald Kirkpatrick and Winnifred Lebourveau. She grew up on the farm with her four brothers and attended Bury High school.

In 1947 after attending O’sullivan’s Business College in Sherbrooke, she went to work at Canadian Silk and Ingersoll Rand. She then worked for the S. N. Bishop Casket Coin Bishopton, Que. until her marriage to Theron Bennett in 1951.

They farmed the farm, known as Bishopton Century Farm. Together they raised their four children, Malcom, Morris, Linda and Margaret.

In recent years, Beryl with others researched and helped compile family trees, and she was one of the organizers for Kirkpatrick and Bennett family reunions.

After Theron’s death the farms became the property of Malcom & Morris. At this time Beryl lived in apartments in Bishopton and in 2006 moved to Les Résidences du Haut-saintfrançois in East-angus.

After failing health and a brief hospital stay, she died on November 14, 2017 at the CHUS Fleurimont hospital in Quebec.

She was the mother of Malcom (Cindy), Linda, Margaret Ann and the late Morris Bennett. She leaves 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. Buried at the Grace United Cemetery, Brookbury, Quebec.
