Man charged with eight counts of ar­son

Aman ar­rested early Fri­day morn­ing in Sher­brooke has been charged in a series of ar­sons in the Mont-belle­vue sec­tor of Sher­brooke. Thony Beau­doin, 25, ap­peared by phone Fri­day to face eight counts of ar­son, eight breaches of con­di­tions, break­ing and en­ter­ing, and pos­ses­sion of a fake credit card. He spent the week­end be­hind bars and will ap­pear in a Sher­brooke court room to­day.

The first re­port of a fire was made around 3:45 Fri­day morn­ing and sub­se­quently, seven fires in all were lit in cab­ins and cars on Lale­mant, Du­nant and Saint-gilles streets.

On the scene, Sher­brooke fire­fight­ers found in­di­ca­tions of crim­i­nal ac­tiv­ity and no­ti­fied the Sher­brooke Po­lice. Beau­doin was lo­cated soon af­ter.

Sher­brooke Po­lice re­port that five ve­hi­cles and two sheds burned and at least two of the burned ve­hi­cles were to­tal losses. There were no in­juries re­ported.

Po­lice have re­leased no other de­tails about the sus­pect.
