Man charged with eight counts of arson
Aman arrested early Friday morning in Sherbrooke has been charged in a series of arsons in the Mont-bellevue sector of Sherbrooke. Thony Beaudoin, 25, appeared by phone Friday to face eight counts of arson, eight breaches of conditions, breaking and entering, and possession of a fake credit card. He spent the weekend behind bars and will appear in a Sherbrooke court room today.
The first report of a fire was made around 3:45 Friday morning and subsequently, seven fires in all were lit in cabins and cars on Lalemant, Dunant and Saint-gilles streets.
On the scene, Sherbrooke firefighters found indications of criminal activity and notified the Sherbrooke Police. Beaudoin was located soon after.
Sherbrooke Police report that five vehicles and two sheds burned and at least two of the burned vehicles were total losses. There were no injuries reported.
Police have released no other details about the suspect.
