Town­ships mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties el­i­gi­ble for 2018 flood com­pen­sa­tion

Res­i­dents of about a dozen East­ern Town­ships com­mu­ni­ties will be el­i­gi­ble for com­pen­sa­tion from the Gen­eral Fi­nan­cial As­sis­tance Pro­gram for real or im­mi­nent dam­age due to the floods of Fe­bru­ary 21 and 22, 2018. Th­ese floods were caused by mild weather, rain and ice jams.

"Dur­ing th­ese floods, the af­fected mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties quickly put in place mea­sures to en­sure the safety of their pop­u­la­tion,” said Min­is­ter of Mu­nic­i­pal Af­fairs and Land Oc­cu­pancy Martin Coi­teux. “That is why the Que­bec gov­ern­ment has au­tho­rized this fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance to al­low th­ese mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties and the af­fected ci­ti­zens to re­pair the dam­age."

The mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties now el­i­gi­ble for com­pen­sa­tion are Cook­shire-ea­ton, Dudswell, Dundee, Dun­ham, El­gin, Hinch­in­brooke, Hunt­ing­don, Pike River, Saint-pa­trice-de-beau­ri­vage, Saint-pie, Ulver­ton, and West­bury.
