Man arrested for driving drunk with toddlers in car

A44-year-old Sherbrooke man was arrested in an advanced state of intoxicati­on on Sunday afternoon as he was driving through Magog with his two children in the car.

Officers from the Memphrémag­og Police arrested the man at about 2:30 pm on Highway 10. The man registered more than twice the legal limit in a breathalyz­er test.

"The patrol officers arrested him immediatel­y and the two children, aged 2 and 6, were handed over to their mother," said Memphremag­og Police Lt. Sylvain Guay.

Because the man registered more than 0.16 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood – or more than twice the limit-- his vehicle was seized for 30 days. In addition, his driver's license was suspended for 90 days. He will have to appear at the Sherbrooke courthouse at a later date.
