Sherbrooke boroughs 1 and 4 begin namechange process
Last February, residents of Sherbrooke boroughs # 1 and # 4 received a notice inviting them to propose a new name for their borough before May 12. Borough # 1 received 287 proposals and Borough # 4 received 394 proposals. Of these, three were selected by Borough Council No. 1 and five by Borough Council No. 4. As of Thursday, April 19, the population of these boroughs will be consulted again by means of a voting card that they will receive by mail.
Borough # 1; which includes the former boroughs of Brompton and Rock Forest-saint-élie-deauvile will have to choose between:
Arrondissement des Forêts-et-des-rivières.
Brompton-rock
Dix / 55. Forest-saint-éliedeauville,
As for the residents of Borough # 4, which includes the former Jacquescartier and Mont Bellevue boroughs, they will have to choose among the following proposals:
Borough of Bellevue-beckett. Borough of Jacques-cartier-montbellevue,
Borough of Rivière-magog. Arroindissement des Nations, Borough of Coeur-de-la-cité. Between April 19 and April 29, voting online will be possible on the sherbrooke.ca/arrondissements or by returning a completed card to one of the two borough offices.
In mid-may, the two borough councils will submit their recommendations to the municipal council to approve the most popular choice.
