- Record Staff

Sutton Jazz is promising jazz lovers an astounding variety of styles for its 17th edition in 2018. With 25 free shows presented in different locations including local restaurants and inns as well as the Sutton ski station, and 4 concerts at the Salle Alec & Gérard Pelletier, there is something for all jazz aficionados.

On September 15th, a tribute to the Adderley Brothers and Nancy Wilson will kick off the festival with local musicians such as Michael Hynes, Marc Bolduc and Almut Ellinghaus. This sextet will offer a fine example of 60s west coast jazz.

Saturday September 22th will reunite two great jazzmen from Montreal: Yves Léveillée on piano and Yannick Rieu on saxophone. They will present their original compositions and will move audiences with their surprising improvisations and interactions.

September 29th will be a magical evening in Sutton. With the support of the Italian Cultural Institute, Sutton jazz is proud to present Luca Ciarla, a 2.0 jazz violinist who presents a “one-man show” of loops, whistles, and singing to create a surreal landscape of new musical frontiers.

Finally, on October 6th, Supernova 4 invites you to a luminous jazz voyage with the musicians Jean Derome on saxophone and flute, Normand Guilbault on bass, and Pierre Tanguay on drums, all under the direction of pianist Felix Stussi. These jazzmen will visit new musical galaxies and invite audiences along on their voyage!

Once again, Mont Sutton ski station will present 5 concerts, with one taking place every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. during the famous Fall colors! Homebrew Dixieland band will be back at La Rumeur affamée every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The other venues are: Auberge Sutton Brouërie, Hôtel Huttopia, Auberge Le Havre Sutton, Le Pleasant, À la Fontaine, Tartinizza and Le Cafetier.
