Police operation at La Marquise shuts down Queen Street
Apolice operation at La Marquise Motel in Lennoxville that caused the closure of Queen Street for most of the afternoon yesterday resulted in the arrest of two individuals.
According to Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) Spokesperson Martin Carrier, police received a call around noon regarding a victim alleged to have been attacked with a firearm.
A tactical intervention squad was deployed to the scene, and a perimeter was created around the motel, Carrier explained.
To ensure the safety of Citizens, Queen Street was closed between Convent and Acadie Streets while the
intervention team assessed the situation and waited for the suspect, thought to be armed, to surface from the motel room.
After roughly four hours, the team made two arrests; one male in his 30s. A woman in her 20s, also in the motel room, was arrested as well and will be questioned by police.
Carrier said a pellet gun was recovered at the scene. At press time, the SPS was still in the process of searching the room, so Carrier could not confirm any other details about the investigation, still in progress.
