Lions Peace Poster Con­test

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly spon­sor the Lions In­ter­na­tional Peace Poster Con­test in lo­cal schools and youth groups. This art con­test for kids en­cour­ages young peo­ple world­wide to ex­press their vi­sions of peace. For more than 25 years, mil­lions of chil­dren from nearly 100 coun­tries have par­tic­i­pated in the con­test. The theme of the 2018-19 Peace Poster Con­test was” Kind­ness Mat­ters”. Stu­dents, ages 11, 12 or 13 on Novem­ber 15, are el­i­gi­ble to par­tic­i­pate.

Donna Jenne, Grand Con­duc­tress and Con­duc­tress in no. 17, Brenda Stone, Grand Sec­re­tary and Sec­re­tary in no. 17, and Donna Mitchell, As­so­ciate Grand Con­duc­tress and Wor­thy Ma­tron in no. 17, cut a cake cel­e­brat­ing the start of a new year.

This year Donna Patina Pabon’s poster placed first from among 34 sub­mis­sions from Knowl­ton Academy and St. Edouard School. Donna is a stu­dent at Knowl­ton Academy.

Sec­ond place was ob­tained by Maika Had­lock, also a stu­dent at Knowl­ton Academy. The vote was ex­tremely close and the de­ci­sions were very hard to make
