Ayer’s Cliff Unity Fifty Plus

The Ayer’s Cliff Unity Fifty Plus met at the Beulah United Church Hall on November 6. Linda graciously welcomed everyone, including our four guests Eddy Pomykala, Patty and Wally Moffat and Jim Mackay.

Linda started with the announceme­nts. Remembranc­e Day Service in Ayer’s Cliff at 11 a.m. Don’t forget to buy a poppy to support the Ayer’s Cliff Legion Branch #128 poppy fund campaign. Also Brunch at Beulah November

18. UCW Christmas Sale November 24. Linda Read; The 100th Anniversar­y with the Ringing of 100 Bells. A craft sale coming up in Stanstead, Christmas Sale here at St. George’s on December 1.

Linda thanked the setting up crew and also the Exercise group who helped so much by setting up the tables and chairs. Thank you folks, it is very much appreciate­d. Thank you to Lois and Barbara for selling our half and half.

Rev. Barbara Wintle asked the Blessing. A delicious meal was prepared for forty-two members and four guests, consisting of pork in gravy, creamed carrots/turnip, beet pickles and coleslaw. Followed by singing Happy Birthday to Tina Linde, Louise Peasley and Phyllis Dustin. With Ernestine Whipple at the piano we all stood for the singing of O Canada. May, Mel and Raymond then cut and served the beautiful cake made by Jean Cass.

The half and half was won by Barb Burrows, Eddy Pomykala and Lise Beauvais.

Vice-president Phil Kerwin read a traffic violation Joke. Saying this guy drove past a speed camera very slowly once, then thinking he would drive very slowly past it four more times to see if he would get any speeding tickets. Turns out the Joke was on him, he got five tickets for not wearing his seat belt. Phil that was a good one, glad it wasn’t you!

Door Prizes went to Janice Voggenreit­er, Beth Anderson, Patsy Moffat, Ben Cunnington, Leta Dustin,

Jean Caty, Norman Wintle, Phyl Dustin,

Barb Wintle, Casey Vriesendor­p, Wally Moffat, and Marsha Wallis. Eddy Pomykala won the loaf of homemade bread, but sold it for a kiss to a goodlookin­g lady. Eddy you’re so sweet.

It was decided we would do a gift exchange. Bring a gift marked for a man or women. It was also decided to bring in non-perishable groceries for the Beulah food bank or Christmas baskets.

President Linda then introduced our guest speaker Eddy Pomykala. Eddy started out explaining that seniors are Experience­d Canadians who are mentally tough, considerat­e, kind and show gratitude. We should all count our Blessings. One of his examples; Failure often provides direction for great success. Eddy spoke on “Eighteen Things that Kind Considerat­e People Do”. Ed’s Motto is:

Eddy for a wonderful talk (entertaini­ng at times), also remarking he spoke to a full house, and this doesn’t happen very often. Eddy, they all stayed to hear what you had to say. Thank you Eddy for a Eddy Pomykala speaking to Ayer’s Cliff Fifty Plus Birthday gals: Tina Linde, Louise Peasley & Phyllis Dustin President Linda Grenon thanking Eddy for speaking on a very interestin­g topic most interestin­g and motivation­al topic. We all heard your message and there is a lesson to be learned. Let’s all accept his challenge.
