PAIR - Individual Assistance Program for retired persons or persons with loss of autonomy

-

This program allows people who are alone to feel safe while maintaining their independence.

What is the PAIR program?

The PAIR program is a personalized automated call service that reaches its subscribers to ensure their health status. Registered persons receive their call at predetermined times, one or more times per day, according to their request.

Answering the call indicates that the subscriber is not in distress and is able to call 911 if help is needed.

The computer is operated by the Service de Police de Sherbrooke.

What happens if I do not answer?

If the subscriber does not answer, the automated system will try two more calls, with ten minutes between calls. After the third call, if there is still no answer, the computer will systematically trigger an alert. At this time, steps will be taken so that someone (a family member, friend, neighbour or a police officer) goes to the home of the subscriber to check on the situation.

This explains the importance of being present at the agreed and predetermined time.

What should I do if I have to leave and cannot receive my daily call?

If you plan to leave your residence at the time you should receive your PAIR call, it is important to call the Sherbrooke Police Service in advance at 819821-5555, extension 0. This will avoid an unnecessary trip to your home.

Who can participate in this program?

Anyone who is retired, semi-retired, ill, convalescing, 55 years of age or older and living alone, or who has special needs may enroll in the program. Is there a cost to participate in this program? This service is completely free. All you need is a phone and to reside in the city of Sherbrooke.

How to register for the program?

It's very simple; just fill out the online form which is also available at the Service de Police de Sherbrooke. A police officer will contact you after this.
