The LDWC is buzzing with the winter rush of campaigns, activities and events!

-

Thanks to a very positive fall session, The Parent Tap, a discussion group designed to tap into every parent’s potential, by bringing adults together to support each other, to explore parenting techniques, and obtain resources for problem solving, will pick up again in January.

LDWC Activities will pick up again in the New Year. LDWC Playgroup on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:30 to noon (resuming January 15). OWLS (Outstanding Wise Ladies Sharing) on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. (resuming January 16). Painting & Bridge Group (resuming January 11). Prenatal Courses are offered to women and their partners 3 times a year at the Marguerite Knapp Building (next session is scheduled for February). A new Health series was introduced this Fall “Revisit your Relationship with FOOD” was a 4 part workshop lead by wholistic nutritionist, Cora Loomis. The series informed participants about a kind, and intuitive approach to eating and living. Due to its tremendous success, we will be implementing further Health workshops in the New year!

The 16 Days of Action to End Sex and Gender based Violence (a series of articles to raise awareness) is currently running in the Sherbooke Record. This year, we received articles and testimonials that have informed and moved us. We hope you are equally affected. White ribbons are available at the LDWC offices and on BU/CRC campus for those who want to show their support to end the cycle of violence.

The Secret Santa Campaign is in full gear, but there is still time to participate! Here’s how it works: SPONSOR: you will be paired with a child, or family (multiple children) from the community. We will provide you with their wishlist, and you can select the articles that you wish to purchase. The remainder will be redistributed to another sponsor. DONATE: Alternatively, you can donate a monetary amount to the LDWC and we will do the shopping for you! Once we have everything we need for each child, we will prepare the boxes to send to their families.

A $10 membership to the LDWC not only gives you access to a lower rate on all events and activities but helps us provide resources and assistance to women and children in our community.
