The Ayer’s Cliff Unity Fifty Plus club met on December 4, at Beulah United Church Hall. President Linda Grenon started the day with a cheery welcome to all. Joining us today were guests; Sandra Piercy, Patty and Wally Moffat and Jim Mackay. Linda thanked John Hodge for donating a birch deer for a special prize. Linda had lots of Santa jokes tucked in her bag. She also read the announcements of up coming events. Reminding members that memberships of $10.00 are due in January.

The four stages of Life: 1st. You believe in Santa. 2nd. You don’t believe in Santa, 3rd. You are Santa and 4th. You look like Santa.

As it was time to eat, Rev. Lee Ann Hogle asked the Blessing. Approximately sixty hungry people sat down to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Ernestine Whipple played the Birthday song to Norman Wintle and Jane Pierce, followed by a few well known Christmas selections. May, Mel and Raymond cut and served the beautiful birthday cake made and decorated in a country winter Christmas scene by Jean Cass.

The draw was won by Louise Peasley, Leta Dustin and John Dawson.

Anyone donating to the Beulah food bank or Christmas baskets were given a ticket. There were many donations of food. One ticket was drawn and the lucky winner was Delma Fowler receiving the birch deer made by John Hodge. Linda thanked all those who brought in food for the Christmas baskets and food bank.

Here comes another joke; Christmas is just plain weird; What other time of year do you sit in front of a dead tree, in your living room and eat candy out of your socks.

We had our gift exchange and everyone left with a gift in hand and wishing all a very merry Christmas.

We’ll see you all back in the New Year, when Fifty Plus meets at Beulah on January 8. We will be playing Bingo. Bring in a few prizes and don’t forget your membership is due.
