Winter Wonderland - Order of the Eastern Star

Sherbrooke Record - - LOCAL SPORTS -

Worthy Grand Matron Janet Patch and Worthy Grand Patron Robert Weidner are still talking about how much they enjoyed their Installation and the lovely reception held for them in the Legion in Waterloo where the theme was Christmas with Christmas decorations, Carols and an old fashioned Christmas meal. They were very surprised to count $300.00 in the HUGS bag left on the tables for donations of spare change, which was to go to the Mental Health Estrie, in Sherbrooke.

WGM Janet was happy to present her granddaughter Skyler Patch Mccoy with an Educational Bursary of $500.00 in the presence of the Bursary Committee Peter Kandalaft, PP, Brenda Shaw Radford PGM and Donna Mitchell PM. She and WGP Robert attended the funeral of Leo Dryden PGP, a great loss to the order. WGP Robert and seven members; Sisters Helen Black PGM, Brenda Shaw Radford, PGM Anita Young PGM, Sandra Ewart PGM Madeline Weidner, attended the 49th General Grand Triennial Assembly in Orlando, Florida. He had been invited by the Worthy Grand Organist to join the choir and was happy to do so, as well as presenting the Quebec Flag.

Most Worthy Grand Matron Marianne wrote a lovely letter to the Quebec members saying how much she had enjoyed meeting them.

Future Members? - a boy was born to the granddaughter of Sister Kay and Brother Angus Strong in November and Sister Amanda Patch became a grandmother in November when her daughter gave birth to a boy. Such good news.

With the New Year this is something to think about - If I decorated the house with beautiful things but do not show LOVE to my family, I am just a decorator. If I cook all day and make delicious food but do not show LOVE to my family, I am just a cookie, If I help in a soup kitchen, nurse the poor, sing in a residence but do not show LOVE to my family it profits me nothing. If I decorate the tree with beautiful balls etc or sing in the Choir but do not spend time thinking about Christ, I have missed the point. LOVE stops the cooking to hug the child. LOVE sets aside the decorations to kiss the husband. LOVE is kind, thoughtful and LOVE doesn't envy another homes' coordinated Christmas china and table linens. Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of your way. LOVE doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return, but rejoices in giving to those who can't.

Love Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. LOVE never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust, but giving the gift of LOVE will endure. (Sharon Jaynes) Peace begins with a smile. (Mother Teresa)

Love and Best Wishes for 2019 for Health and Happiness.
