-

The petition put into circulation last fall by the Memphremagog Hospital Vigilence Committee (CVHM) will be presented to President of the CIUSSS de l’estrie-chus board of directors Jacques Fortier, at the board’s public meetign scheduled for Wednesday, May 29.

The main goal of the petition, which gathered roughly 11,500 names, is the return of local governance to the Memphrémagog hospital.

The CVHM petition also calls for the appointment a citizen from the Memphremagog MRC to the CIUSSS de l’estrie-chus board of directors, the return of previous services and the geriatric unit, the continuity of local services for the CLSCS of Potton, Stanstead and Magog, additional beds in CHSLDS, a fair payment system for the use of parking and the addition of new specialized services such as a magnetic resonance device.

Guy Gingras, there is an openness on the part of senior management at the health institution. Assistant Director General Dr. Stéphane Tremblay was appointed to meet with the members of the CVHM to better understand the issues at the Magog hospital. To date, Dr. Tremblay and several of his executives participated in eight meetings with members of the CVHM. The discussions made it possible to point out the most urgent situations to be corrected for the benefit of users of the MRC'S health and social services system.

"There is still a lot to be done," noted Gingras in a recent press release, "but we have managed to build bridges with CIUSSSE-CHUS senior management and this event alone is a historic achievement. "

The Memphrémagog Hospital Watch Committee is composed of about thirty people elected at various levels, representatives of organizations active in the health and social services sector, and citizens concerned by these issues.

The CVHM is inviting the public to come and meet the CIUSSS de l’estriechus board of directors on May 29 at 4 p.m. at the Memphrémagog hospital, Salle Le Bonheur.

Those wishing to ask questions must register between 15:45 and 16:00, the number of interventions and the time allowed is limited.
