Sherblues & Folk festival unveils 2019 program

-

Sherblues Productions, the City of Sherbrooke, Desjardins, Destination Sherbrooke, Tourism Quebec, and the Granada Theatre have released the program for the 10th edition of the Sherblues & Folk festival. Happening from July 3 to 7, it will also be pursued at the Granada Theatre on July 10 and 11 for the first time as an “off festival.”

Mainly held in downtown Sherbrooke, the festival aims to go big for its tenth year. Artists will be performing on Wellington Street, Strathcona Square, the Place Nikitotek, the Granada Theatre, the Grand Cru cruise boat, the Orford Express tourist train, and six participating café-bistros.

Soran will be the festival’s first headliner. With over 10 million views online, Soran is a young singer songwriter who first became known for his participation on Quebec music show La Voix. Charlotte Cardin will be performing later that night. Cardin is also a singer-songwriter and she is just returning from a successful world tour.

Sherblues & Folk is holding a special Funky Louisiana evening on July 5, and claims it will turn Wellington South into a literal “French Quarter,” with the help of Louisiana harmonica player Andy J. Forest, and the Big Sam’s Funky Nation band.

After a successful first edition, the dinner-show cruises and train rides are back and better than ever with three course meals to complement performances by Cécile Doo-kingué, Pascale Picard and Jordane.

All in all, over 30 names will be presenting throughout the week for one of Sherbrooke’s most folksy festivals yet.
