Park Sutton Big Randodon fundraiser
On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the Parc d'environnement naturel de Sutton (PENS) is organizing the first edition of the Big Randodon. On Saturday, September 7, hundreds of people will walk the Park's trails before gathering for a host of festive activities. This celebration is paired with a fun and cheerful fundraising event. All funds raised will help the Park finance its Youth-nature educational hiking program.
Each year, nearly 800 young people benefit from the free bilingual educational hiking program developed by PENS. The Youth-nature program is counting on the community’s support and generosity to continue giving all young people in the region the opportunity to learn in, through and for nature.
The public is invited to gather family and friends to walk the trail of their choice, at their own pace, with an opportunity or two to get to know other nature lovers. Hikers who register are invited to enjoy a light breakfast courtesy of local vendors and businesses right before the walk and will have a chance to win one of the many participation prizes offered by local businesses. Registration for young people aged 17 and under is free.
A number of free activities will be offered throughout the day. From 10 a.m. to noon, the Enchanted Forest will keep little ones busy along the Village-montagne trail. From noon to 4 p.m., discovery workshops, yoga session, slackline, corn roast, face painting and more will be hosted at the end of Réal Road. Finally, from 4 p.m. to 7p.m., the festivities will continue with the presentation of prizes and a toast to the past 40 years. Live music, local beer and wine as well as a food truck will keep the celebration going and cap the day off in style.
To encourage as many people to participate as possible, hikers can now obtain their tickets by donation. A minimum donation of $10 is required to cover trail access and tax receipts will be issued for contributions of $30 or more. All donations collected will be put directly towards the Youth-nature program.
