Volunteer spotlight - David Taylor

- Frontier Animal Society

Since 2012, Phelps Helps has been very lucky to have had nearly 100 committed volunteers assist at our weekly sessions and community events. Whether someone is able to able to give one hour of their time or commit to helping at a weekly session, Phelps values the contribution of these generous individuals. Today we would like to highlight long-time tutor David Taylor.

David has been volunteering at our high school tutoring sessions since 2017. As a retired engineer, helping with math was a natural fit for him. When asked why he decided to join Phelps Helps David said that after hearing of the work Phelps was doing to increase the graduation rate in the Stanstead area, he thought he might be able to help. David also points out that he has always enjoyed working with young people and is motivated by seeing “the eureka smile”! While he admits that at times the students may test your patience, they often take the time to show their appreciation for the help that is given.

David offers clear and simple advice to those considering becoming a volunteer; “Do it!” Thank you David for your invaluable contribution to our organization.

Phelps Aide Phelps Helps was founded in 2012 and has grown organically from a single high school tutoring program to six unique programs, providing the Stanstead area with free educational and career support.
