Sherbrooke setting the table for two weeks of exploring and dining out
The sixth edition of Sherbrooke met la table, an event where local restaurants offer table d’ hôte menus at discounted rates, will take place from Oct. 16 to 30.
The initiative was started in 2014 by Destination Sherbrooke in an effort to bring together restaurateurs and lovers of good food by making the city's restaurants more accessible.
For two weeks, 25 restaurants will offer three-course table d'hôte menus at $15 or $20 for lunch, and $25 or $35 for dinner. The event is an excellent opportunity to discover or rediscover the dishes of local chefs.
While the restaurant formula remains the same, the enthusiasm of the participating restaurateurs grows year after year.
"It is a real pleasure to work in collaboration with these establishments, which all have their own special flavours, and to see that they are eagerly awaiting this time of year," commented Marie-claude Vidal, Promotion and Business Community Officer at Destination Sherbrooke.
"The restaurant owners are unanimous, Sherbrooke met la table brings them a new clientele. And the figures prove it; 70% of customers have discovered new restaurants thanks to the promotion. Many restaurateurs even suggest that the event should last longer," added Lynn Blouin, Director of Promotion, Business and Sports Tourism at Destination Sherbrooke.
Booking early is recommended because in past years restaurants filled up quickly.
The 25 institutions participating this year are: Au coin du Vietnam, Auguste, Bistro DT, Café Blabla, Comme chez soi, Da Leonardo, Da Toni, Guacamole y Tequila, La Table du chef, Le Bouchon, L'entr’amis, L’empreinte, Lo Ré, Masala Café, Méchant Steak, O’chevreuil, OMG Resto, Overflow, Persépolis, Pizzicato, Savo, Sballo, Siboire, Tapageur et Wakai. A chance to win
For the sixth edition, BMW Sherbrooke and Destination Sherbrooke are putting forward a contest where participants will have the chance to win two nights at the OTL Gouverneur, two evening meals for two people to choose from among the participating restaurants and a BMW brand car for the weekend offered by BMW Sherbrooke.
Epicureans can participate by completing the registration form on the Destination Sherbrooke website in the contest section. The draw will take place on Oct. 7, just in time for the start of the promotion.
This year, Auberge Marquis de Montcalm, gîte Ile de Garde and domaine Au gîte des 4 lacs offer guests participating in Sherbrooke a 15% to 20% discount on their room rates.
