6th edition of “Sherbrooke met la table” hailed as a success

-

The sixth edition of “Sherbrooke met la table,” the food festival that sees local restaurants offer more affordable table d’hote options in the name of expanding people’s palettes, ended last Wednesday and Destination Sherbrooke, the group behind annual gourmet event, says it is delighted with the impact that has been made on the Sherbrooke restaurant industry.

This year, 25 establishments joined the initiative, including Au coin du Vietnam, Auguste, Bistro DT, Café Blabla, Comme chez soi, Da Leonardo, Da Toni,

Guacamole and Tequila, La Table du chef, Le Bouchon, L'entr'amis, L'empreinte, Lo Ré, Masala Café, Bad Steak, O'chevreuil, OMG Resto, Overflow, Persépolis, Pizzicato, Savo, Sballo, Siboire, Tapageur and Wakai. Participating restaurateurs said they saw a significant increase in their clientele during lunchtime, especially on days that are usually quieter, such as Tuesday or Wednesday.

"Our different offers between our lunch and dinner menus allowed us to see some customers coming to try each possibility that " met la table" allowed them to try," said Maxim Yargeau of the

Overflow restaurant.

The various restaurants also noticed that many of their customers were taking advantage of the Sherbrooke promotion to experiment with diffrent restaurants.

"You could hear them say that they had already tried Lo Ré this week and that after that they would also go to Da Toni," said Martine Gérin of Comme chez soi.

From one restaurant to another, the increase in attendance during these eleven gourmet days ranged from 25% for Restaurant Da Toni to 55% for Overflow. Unanimously, the participating restaurants report that they wish to take part in a seventh edition, the dates of which will be determined at a later date.

"We've never been so busy, we've never had so many customers. We had 40% more customers than usual," said Daniel Carbonneau of L'empreinte.

Destination Sherbrooke is the organization responsible for promoting and developing tourism in the City of Sherbrooke. It helps to create conditions that foster the growth of the tourism industry by generating economic spinoffs that directly contribute to job creation throughout Sherbrooke.
