Frontier Animal Society Featured pet: Aiza

-

Although it hasn’t been that long since we last ran Aiza, she is such a wonderful and engaged dog and we know that her perfect adopter is out there somewhere so we’re giving it another go. At this point it seems pretty certain she’ll be spending Christmas at the shelter but we are hopeful she’ll be ringing in the new year in a home of her own.

Aiza is a wonderful five year old mixed breed dog who loves people, is well behaved, knows her basic commands and is working on her leash skills. Aiza loves her walks and will often plop down on her back for a wiggle and roll in the grass or snow. Although like every dog she needs her daily walks, on cold and windy winter days, she doesn’t love being outdoors for long periods, preferring instead to stay indoors and snuggle up on her soft and cozy bed. The more comfy blankets and pillows she has, the happier she is.

Aiza is not good with cats or small dogs and when playing and interacting with dogs her own size, she gets too wound up and doesn’t read their signals so she should be the only dog in the home. She is not, however, reactive to other dogs when she sees them while out on her walks.

Aiza’s needs an adopter who is willing and able to provide her with the structure and mental stimulation she needs to thrive. Once she settles into her new home and has a consistent and stable routine and understands what is expected of her, she will be a loyal, fun and engaged companion. She is a real people dog who loves attention and is happiest when she has people to hang around with. A securely fenced backyard where she can run and play is a definite asset. Although she is not high energy, because she can be excitable, we feel Aiza is best suited to a home with no young children.

We are told that Aiza is a Jack Russell Terrier / Staffordshire mix and although we don’t know this for sure, because of the way she looks, breed specific legislation (BSL) may apply so before you inquire, please ensure she is welcome in your city, town or municipality.

If you would like to find out more about Aiza, please give our adoption coordinator Brenda a call at 819.876.7747 any day of the week between 8 a.m and 8 p.m.
