Ayer’s Cliff rodeo to host large-scale Christmas car rally

- By Gordon Lambie

The Ayer’s Cliff Rodeo and the Auberge Ayer’s Cliff are preparing a third car rally to close out the year, set to take place from the 26 to the 29 of December. One part pleasant country drive, one part treasure hunt, the rally offers people the opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy an activity together while also respecting the rules of distancing issued by the public health department.

Katrine Lafaille, President of the Ayer’s Cliff Rodeo and owner of the Auberge Ayer’s Cliff, said that although car rallies are not new to the team, this year has definitely provided the opportunity to hone their skills at hosting one.

“We’ve never done one before,” the organizer said.

Lafaille said that the auberge and/ or the rodeo has been in the habit of hosting about a rally a year over the past few years, but stepped it up this year in this big light of the way that the pandemic has limited people’s opportunities to get out of the home.

This Christmas rally has been planned around what organizers consider to be the most beautifully decorated houses in the region, but will also feature an elf hunt with an eye t being fun for the whole family. Participants will have to travel more than 50 km in order to answer around thirty questions which will be visible on illuminated posters along the route.

Anyone interested can register online, although Lafaille said that the registration for the 26 has filled up already. Questionnaires and a ‘surprise bag’ including hot chocolate and local products will be delivered directly to participants’ homes a few days before their departure so that they can be ready to start right away at sunset on the day of their choice.

More information on pricing and registration is available at www. rodeoayerscliff.com.
