Featured Pet: Samba

-

Samba has been with us since early June. Because she was transferred into our care through another rescue, we had a fairly good grasp of her temperament and personality, however, as with all of our new arrivals, we wanted to spend some time getting to know her before posting her for adoption. Within just a few days, actually, more like just a few hours, we knew she was a great dog and by the end of her first week, we felt she was ready for adoption.

It has been two weeks since she was posted and much to our surprise, Samba has had very little interest.

First, a little about her history. When Samba was rescued from a remote Northern community, she was very pregnant and due to her weakened state, was rushed to a vet clinic where her puppies were safely delivered by cesarean. She was a wonderful and devoted mother and when all of her puppies were adopted, we were asked to find this beautiful girl the perfect home. She is now healthy and strong and has adjusted extremely well to her new life down south.

Samba is as sweet and friendly as she is cute. She loves people and when we greet her at her kennel, her entire body wiggles with joy in anticipation of her upcoming outing. Happy and outgoing, she loves attention and is always quick to plop down for a belly rub.

Samba is dog social, (although with every dog we encourage proper introductions), and she seems to be fine with cats. As a bonus, despite not having much experience, with a front hook harness, she walks very nicely on leash.

Although she is approximately 2-3 years old, she can sometimes be a bit “mouthy,” like a puppy, and while she is gentle, we feel she is best suited to a home with older children. We are, however, working with her on this and she is learning quickly. Being a husky mix, although she isn’t high energy, her ideal adopter will keep her active and provide her with exercise and plenty of outdoor time. A securely fenced yard is a definite asset. She can, at times, be a little vocal, especially when left on her own, so to be safe, no apartments or condos.

If you are looking for an engaged and fun-loving dog, please consider Samba. She is so very ready to leave shelter living behind and begin a happy new life filled with fun and adventure. If you are ready to be her forever family, we’d love to hear from you.

To inquire about adoption, please give our adoption coordinator Brenda a call at 819.876.7747 any day of the week between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
