stressed Plante in an interview.

His father bought him his first guitar when he was nine but at that point, he said it was more a decoration for his room. “I was 14 when I decided that I wanted to play. My father started showing me some chords,” he said.

“I appreciate my alone time, so I locked myself in my room to practice for hours. I worked without ever getting discouraged. Really, I give the credit to my father since he was the reason I wanted to become a musician,” he explained.

He had a hard time reproducing what he was hearing so it was naturally easier for him to start creating something original. He said he jammed with friends a lot, but it never crossed his mind that he could also sing.

“Drawing has always been my first passion and I used it to illustrate the meaning of my music.

And then one day I decided to sing. At first, I would ride in the car and sing out loud. I didn’t want anyone to hear me for fear of looking ridiculous or being laughed at. Singing made me feel like I was naked and putting my heart out for all to see, but it is much better now,” he explained.

His voice is raw and raspy which gives him a particularly amazing style. His performance is also commanding. You need a second listen just because it is so good.

Plante started recording his original material to post on social media. He would do one original number a week (guitar, vocal and the corresponding drawing) and post it.

Comments from his friends encouraged him and he started gaining more confidence, he said. Of course, he had been writing music for quite a while and with his newly acquired confidence, started to match lyrics with that music.

“I would say that my music is one hundred percent Quebec Folk. My inspiration comes mostly from situations I have lived or experienced and it could be my vision of life, so it is easy for me to remain myself. I like to laugh at myself or at least have a humorous perspective on things,” he added.

He does not want to be judgmental in his lyrics or hurt anyone. His songs are very up tempo, even his love songs. According to him, musical genres do not apply in his case. He listens to everything, or almost.

“I listen to Elvis, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Nirvana and progressive rock of the 70s to 90s. My favorite group now is Little Biggy. I am touched by music not according to the genre but rather the emotion it gives me. I also love Tyler Childer and his song, ‘White

House Road.’ Honestly it is all about the emotion and how it makes you feel,” he stressed.

He continued by explaining his need for solitude but on the other hand to meet people to exchange and laugh. It’s a very contradictory personality, but he gets along well with that. He is a very warm person all the same.

Plante is an artist who loves creating music as well as visual arts.

He said that he loves illustrating his music videos with his own art.

“I like to mix the two because one explains the other, they are related but one never overshadows the other. They are complementary. My latest discovery would be using my computer to draw. It is different and I also find a lot of pleasure doing it. I just might start painting eventually,” he concluded.

You will find his work on Internet, he has now many videos. Enjoy!
