Renée Arsenault-delisle
A committed woman who always gives of her time. Since 1980, she has been a member of the Société de généalogie des Cantons-de-l’est, of which she received the distinction of emeritus member in 1999. She has done digital capture in several parishes in the Eastern Townships. Volunteer with the Fondation des Amis de la généalogie and the Fédération des Sociétés de généalogie du Québec.
Joel Barter
He is a major collector and interested in everything related to Bury’s history.
He also knows all of Bury’s founding families. Member of the Bury History and Heritage Society.
Donna Coates
During the 24th edition of the Hommage Bénévolat-québec awards, she won the Volunteer of the Year award. She instills confidence and motivation in young people to persevere in their schooling. She introduces more than one to the pleasures of reading, nourishes their curiosity and, remarkably, she does it in English and French. She does volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, Moisson Haut-stfrançois et La table des ainés.
Gilles Denis
Owner of the local grocery store in Cookshire, this entrepreneur says, ‘I learned a lot about life through culture.’ He multiplied cultural projects such as the creation of an Art Gallery and a House of Culture. Through his actions, citizens can discover the local culture. Long-time member of the Bury Historical and Heritage Society.
Rachel Garber
Editor of the Townships Sun Magazine, which has served the Eastern Townships for 50 years, Rachel is also a former Director General of Townshippers Association. She served on the Board of Directors of La Maison Aube-lumiere in Sherbrooke. Has done volunteer work for the CAB Haut-saintfrancois, Unitarians and Universalists in the Eastern Townships, and the Bury Historical and Heritage Society.
Richard Grey
Mister Grey’s father was a soldier in the air force during the last world war. He is a very important character in the knowledge of military history. He is the president of the Bury Sector Legion.
Roch Lapointe
Mr. Lapointe is a very generous entrepreneur. He is known for his respect for the conservation of Bury’s heritage. A member of the Bury History and Heritage Society for several years, of which he was President.
Praxède Lévesque-lapointe
Mother of 5 children and owner of a maple grove with 15,000 taps for over 40 years, Ms. Lévesque is always available to help. President of the Bury Society.
John Mackley
M. Mackley is an archivist. He manages the Bury Historical and Heritage Society website and its Facebook page. He is on the board of the newspaper Bury Image and the Bury library. He is very generous and almost indispensable. Long-time member and board member of the Bury Historical and Heritage Society.
Michel Morin
Since the age of 16, Mr. Morin has been a collector of artifacts and everything related to military history. He is passionate about heritage. Generous in knowledge transfer.
Edward Pedersen
M. Pedersen is a devoted man and a high-level volunteer. He was part of the group that saved the Canterbury Church and is now a center that presents events during the summer season. Member of the Bury History and Heritage Society.
David Woodard
M. Woodard has been an involved member within the Stanstead community for many, many years. President of the Stanstead Legion. Strong and active volunteer for the Frontier Animal Society, the Weir Memorial Park in Ogden and Stanstead College.
David Wright
Mr. David (Skip) Wright has been either Editor or Publisher of the Townships Sun, since November 2000. He is currently Publisher and President of the Board of Directors. He has played a significant role in its survival and growth through challenging times. President of the St. Francis Valley Naturalists’ Club. On Board of Directors of the Salmon Valley Fish Camp; Game Club in Scotstown. On Board of Directors for the MADA (age-friendly municipality initiative) for the Canton de Hatley.
Irma Chapman (absent from the

Descended from a large founding family of Bury. Member of Bury History and Heritage Society since inception.
Gilles Viger (absent from the
ceremony)
Vice-president of the Eastern Townships Veterans Committee and a member of Canada’s Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans (The HUT).
Lisa Smith (absent from the
ceremony)
She has changed the life of so many youth in the Stanstead Area. She has volunteered at Phelps Helps for 10 years. She runs the Dufferin Heights Junior golf program, offers free golf clinics at local elementary schools.
Madame Beverly Loomis
Mrs. Loomis has been a tireless volunteer in the community for decades. President with the local Little Forks Branch of the United Empire Loyalist’s Association of Canada. President with Patrimoine Ascot / Ascot Heritage. While with Ascot Heritage, Mrs. Loomis orchestrated the full restoration of the Little Hyatt School House.
During the ceremony, Bibeau noted that many of the recipients come from Bury and explained that it was because Bury has so many great volunteers. Everyone was invited to enjoy something to drink and a bite to eat to conclude the event.
