The CHUS Foundation Lottery celebrates its 25th anniversary!

-

The Grand tirage de la santé | Groupe Beaucage is a lottery which, every year, inspires thousands of participants wishing to get their hands on one of the 10 grand prizes! It is also a very interesting way for the CHUS Foundation to accomplish its mission, namely to contribute to the improvement of health care offered to the population at the Fleurimont Hospital and the Hôteldieu de Sherbrooke, and also to support the CHUS Research Center.

“Since its creation, our lottery has donated $5 million to the cause of health. This is a great contribution in addition to our foundation’s other fundraising activities. The purchase of new equipment and the financing of various projects in medical research or the humanization of care were possible,” explains the general director of the CHUS Foundation, Martin Clermont. “This lottery is also a great example of mobilization of the business community which does not hesitate to offer attractive prizes from one year to the next!”, he remarks.

When it first appeared, this lottery allowed you to win a house. “Things have evolved a lot in 25 years,” says Mélissa Turcotte, who coordinates the event at the CHUS Foundation. “Now, thanks to our various partners, ticket holders can win one of ten grand prizes. The big winner will be able to choose between a chalet from Maison Usinex, a recreational vehicle from Élégance VR or the sum of $125,000. All the prizes are really interesting and reach all participants!” Volvo of Sherbrooke offers an XC40 car; BRP and its employees, a Spyder

F3 vehicle. Among the other prizes, a $10,000 travel credit from Tripvoyage.ca, $5,000 gift cards from IGA and IGA Extra Couture and St-pierre, Canadian Tire of Sherbrooke and Fleurimont, Sports Experts Sherbrooke and Maison Bueau et Bureau. Also, two evening subscriptions to the Strøm Nordic spa and a $2,000 gift card to Carrefour de l’estrie.

In 25 years, more than 300,000 tickets have been sold by volunteers of the CHUS Foundation and by other participating foundations on the territory of the CIUSSS de l’estrie – CHUS which can invest the part of the profits that accrue to them in their respective establishments. “It’s more than just a lottery. We are joining forces to be able to do more for the health of people in our region,” added Martin Clermont.

To thank the population for their loyalty, the CHUS Foundation issued a special 25th anniversary ticket at a cost

of $60. It offers twelve chances to win in addition to a scratch box to get your hands on an instant prize. “It’s a new formula that people appreciate if we rely on the enthusiasm generated from the start of the sale,” notes Ms. Turcotte, who points out that the special 25th anniversary ticket is limited to 5,000 tickets. . The regular ticket, costing $20, offers three chances to win in the draw which will be held on August 20.

Those interested will be able to visit the chalet which will be on display in the parking lot of the Canadian Tire store in Plateau Saint-joseph in Sherbrooke starting in May.
