Springtime architectural adventures
The 7th edition of the Springtime of Architecture is a three-part experience: a retrospective exhibition highlighting projects developed by the Sutton School of Art over the past six years, an exclusive exhibition on the Lab-école du Zénith of Shefford in partnership with the Maison de l’architecture du Québec, and playful activity stations for the whole family.
Since 2018, the Sutton School of Art has been offering a springtime immersion in the world of architecture. This year, the Art School presents a retrospective exhibition featuring works created with 100 children aged six to 14, in collaboration with some 20 Quebec architects. Immerse yourself in the language, the social site and the fascinating reflection on better living together that architecture offers; from drawings of summer pavilions to models, architectural photographs and art installations imagining the future of the École d’art site.
The Sutton School of Art, with the support of the Maison de l’architecture du Québec, welcomes Pelletier de Fontenay Architectes to present an exhibition on the Lab-école du Zénith in Shefford. The Lab-école architecture competition sponsored six model schools in Quebec, proposing a reflection on the most desirable ways to build or renovate our schools, in order to meet the real needs of children.
The 7th edition of the Springtime of Architecture is in keeping with the mission of the Sutton School of Art as a multidisciplinary art center, dedicated to the development of children through experiences and co-creative projects with artists and architects. Playful, interactive activities designed to stimulate the imagination and creativity of the whole family enable imaginative structures to be designed, giving free rein to inventiveness and exploring the infinite possibilities of architecture. The multidisciplinary art center is helping to revitalize Sutton’s former creamery, a 20,000 sq. ft. industrial heritage building.
Sutton School of Art activities are made possible thanks to the support of generous donors and volunteers.
