Clear li­brary book fines and help Lo­cal Food banks ‘Food for Fines’ cam­paign be­gins in De­cem­ber

Bruce county Pub­lic li­brary wants to help pa­trons and lo­cal food banks by of­fer­ing amnesty to those with over­due books, if they bring an item of non-per­ish­able food for ev­ery $2 in fines, to a max­i­mum of $10.

items must be dropped off at any Bruce county Pub­lic li­brary lo­ca­tion from dec. 1-8. The li­brary will also gladly ac­cept food do­na­tions from those with­out fines.

Bruce­coun­tyPubli­cli­brary’s“Food for Fines” con­sis­tently clears close to $200 in over­due fines and each li­brary branch de­liv­ers the do­nated items to their clos­est food bank.

The pro­gram sup­ports the li­brary’s goal­toease­bar­ri­er­sthat­may­de­ter­res­i­dents from us­ing li­brary re­sources and ser­vices, while con­tribut­ing to an im­por­tant need in our com­mu­ni­ties.
