Southamp­ton Con­cert Band presents hol­i­day favourites

The Southamp­ton Con­cert Band will per­form its an­nual Christ­mas con­cert Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. in the Port El­gin United Church.

The band will present a wide va­ri­ety of Christ­mas song favourites in­clud­ing an ar­range­ment of “An­gels from the Realms of Glory” to a swingin’ ver­sion of the “Nutcracker” and of course our favourite hol­i­day tune, “Santa Wants a Tuba for Christ­mas.”

The wood­wind play­ers will be well rep­re­sented in the con­cert with guest artists “The Ge­or­gian Bay Wood­wind Quin­tet” - five ex­cel­lent mu­si­cians who also per­form reg­u­larly with the Ge­or­gian Bay Sym­phony.

There is an added in­cen­tive for fam­i­lies plan­ning a Christ­mas sea­son event.The Con­cert Band will per­form the clas­sic Christ­mas se­lec­tion for the chil­dren in all of us en­ti­tled, “Twas the Night Be­fore Christ­mas”, with guest nar­ra­tor Ms. Natalie Ro­bitaille.

She is the Artis­tic Di­rec­tor for the Bruce County Play­house, a pro­fes­sional sum­mer the­atre group in Southamp­ton. She is also di­rect­ing the play “Shirley Valen­tine” at the Roxy The­atre in Owen Sound Dec. 12-14.

En­try to the con­cert is by do­na­tion with pro­ceeds for the Southamp­ton Con­cert Band Mu­sic Li­brary.
