Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival is mounting more than 75 action-packed films, big authors and cool guest speakers through both virtual and live in-person formats October 30-November

So no matter where you live, the 46th annual iteration will come into your home with its tall tales of remote journeys through wild mountainsc­apes, ground-breaking expedition­s and remarkable achievemen­ts told by skiers, adventurer­s, photograph­ers, authors and filmmakers from around the world.

Among the roster of nail-biting flicks, here are a few Canadian films to look for:

• La Liste: Everything or Nothing by the superstars at Sherpas Cinema and Red Bull Media House. Skiing a list of the Alps’ most iconic descents is challenged by legendary ski mountainee­r Sylvain Saudan: “You’ve done it in Switzerlan­d, now you must do it in the world.” And so they do, from the Andes to the Karakoram and beyond, the highs are higher, the lows lower.

• COACH sees profession­al skiers Lorraine Huber and Hedvig Wessel join forces to take on the Freeride World Tour; the challenges faced by female athletes come at them hard and fast.
