MOMENT SPA RUN: Erik Guay TREATMENT: Energizing Leg Treatment
While Moment Spa staff refused to confirm or deny whether the 2011 World Cup downhill champion has ever received this treatment, there’s no doubt that Guay’s namesake run and the Fairmont’s in-house spa were made for each other.
Skier’s right off the top of the South Side’s
TGV Quad, the consistently steep singleblack roller doesn’t let up until reaching the lift’s mid-mountain base. Aptly named Grand Prix until 2013 when it was given to Guay, this thigh-burner calls for some thigh therapy.
As luck would have it, that’s exactly what the Energizing Leg Treatment at Fairmont Tremblant’s airy Moment Spa is all about. After lathering my aching gams with a Labrador tea exfoliating ointment, a therapist swaddles them in a towel and massages moisturizer into my feet for 10 minutes or so. Goodbye lingering ski boot soreness, hello foot-modelling career! The ointment is then wiped off and replaced with warm white clay that recalls being buried in sand at the beach. My legs are wrapped once more, this time in a plastic sheet, with an aromatic oil used for foot massage part deux.
As a spa-goer, I’ve been down this slatherrinse-rub-repeat road before, but never have I experienced the next step. Refreshed with a Sothys leg gel, my lower extremities are fitted with thigh-high compression boots that inflate and deflate in a rhythmic, massaging pattern. Half an hour later, I emerge from the treatment room a new man—from the thighs down anyway. fairmont.com/tremblant
