SkiTrax - - Out In Front - Tim­ber Creek Cross Coun­try Ski Area

These 13 kilo­me­tres are lov­ingly man­i­cured by Kelly Kahler, an in­ter­est­ing fel­low who takes great pride in his op­er­a­tion. The trails co­in­cide, at times, along the way, al­low­ing the skier to cre­ate fun, mys­te­ri­ous loops that of­fer vary­ing ski­ing ex­pe­ri­ences. Truly a su­perb ex­am­ple of a small cross-coun­try-ski area run by a de­voted owner.

Blue­berry Lake (BBL) Cross Coun­try Ski and Snow­shoe Cen­ter

Blue­berry Lake is a laid­back but well-run cross-coun­try-ski area where the area's 86-year-old owner Leonard Robin­son holds court by the wood­stove. BBL has 11 trails for Clas­sic and skate ski­ing. There are trails for easy to ex­pert abil­i­ties. Many of its trails are wooded, but also have some in wide-open mead­ows with beau­ti­ful views. There are com­plete ski and snow­shoe rentals and lessons at the Cen­ter. It re­quests that you call ahead if you would like a les­son. All trails are en­gi­neered and graded for the av­er­age skier's en­joy­ment. It has heavy-duty track-set­ting equip­ment. The trails are groomed most ev­ery day.

Ole's Cross Coun­try Cen­ter

Ole's Cross Coun­try Cen­ter fea­tures easy ski­ing right out the door. Ole's is lo­cated at the War­ren-sug­ar­bush Air­port, which is on a plateau 1,500 feet high. It grooms snow on 40 kilo­me­tres of trails, half in open fields and half in the for­est. Open trails near the ski cen­ter are rel­a­tively flat with great moun­tain views within a short and easy ski or you can en­joy the win­ter quiet on snowy for­est rolling-ter­rain trails. Fam­i­lies and friends of­ten ski to­gether then re­turn to the ski cen­ter for lunch at Ole's deli.
