At­lanta United’s Ger­ardo Martino has been named as the 2018 MLS Coach of the Year. Martino has helped guide At­lanta to a record-set­ting reg­u­lar sea­son and a sec­ond-con­sec­u­tive play­off berth. At­lanta set a new sin­gle-sea­son wins record with 21, tied the pre­vi­ous all-time point’s record of 69 and outscored ev­ery MLS club this year, achiev­ing con­sec­u­tive 70-goal sea­sons for the first time in MLS his­tory. Martino re­ceived close to 33% of the vote, beat­ing out LAFC’s Bob Bradley, 22%, and Sport­ing Kansas City’s Peter Ver­mes, 11%.
