The St. Louis Board of Aldermen approved a tax incentive package to build a downtown soccer stadium. This is a significant step in the city’s effort to have a professional franchise. The ownership group, consisting of World-Wide Technology CEO Jim Kavanaugh and the Taylor family, owners of rental car company Enterprise, made their intentions clear back in October of wanting to attract an MLS franchise. The owners will cover most of the stadium cost, which is good for the citizens. MLS plans to award two more franchises, but as of yet no word on when or where.
