MLS BEST XI
With the MLS regular season over, the awards are being handed out. Despite only playing half a season, Wayne Rooney made Major League Soccer’s Best XI. Rooney joined D.C. United in the summer and had an immediate and lasting impact on the team. The Englishman is joined by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and top goal scorer Josef Martinez. Columbus goalkeeper Zack Steffen made the team, alongside defenders Kemar Lawrence and Aaron Long of the New York Red Bulls and Chad Marshall of Seattle. Midfielders Luciano Acosta (D.C.), Miguel Almiron (Atlanta), Ignacio Piatti (Montreal) and Carlos Vela (LAFC) also feature on the best XI.
