The Ital­ian Football Fed­er­a­tion (FIGC) has in­tro­duced stronger sanc­tions to fight vi­o­lence against ref­er­ees. The changes were made fol­low­ing a num­ber of in­ci­dents in the lower leagues. Vi­o­lence that does not re­quire medical at­ten­tion is sub­ject to a min­i­mum one-year ban, while acts that do re­quire medical as­sis­tance will re­ceive a min­i­mum two-year ban. The sanc­tions cover ev­ery­one in­clud­ing coaches, di­rec­tors and play­ers.
