Documents obtained by the German press has revealed some shady information about current FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s ongoing push for the approval of two new competitions to be controlled by a mystery consortium in return for $25 billion. The documents reveal the scope of Infantino’s plan and the identity of the consortium behind the bid for the rights of the two competitions, Club World Cup and a proposed World League for national teams. Infantino has also proposed selling control of almost all of FIFA’s rights, including the World Cup itself, FIFA would maintain 51% ownership. The consortium is led by a British advisory firm and London-based investment company, both with close ties to Saudi Arabian investors. FIFA’s own legal counsel conducted an internal review of the plans and cited numerous legal problems and urged Infantino to limit the proposal to the Club World Cup and World League. They were subsequently fired.
