14 YEARS FOR SOCCER BOMBER
Sergej W. has been convicted of planting the bomb that damaged Borussia Dortmund’s team bus in 2017, and sentenced to 14 years in prison. Prosecutors wanted life imprisonment for 28 counts of attempted murder, following three bombs planted roadside exploded as the team bus made its way to the Westfalenstadion before a Champions League quarter-final match. The trial lasted 11 months and in addition to the 14 years in prison, the 29-year-old will also have to pay Marc Bartra €15,000 for the injuries he sustained. Sergej said that he did not intend to injure anyone and had hoped to make close to £3 million on the stock market if Dortmund’s share prices fell.
