Whether you are looking for ingredients for your holiday entertaining or unique presents, handmade by local crafts people, shopping locally just got a lot easier in Bridgewater. Leading up to Christmas, the Bridgewater Farmers’ Market Association is hosting a series of five Sunday markets.

Among the vendors will be familiar faces and products from their outdoor summer markets who will be joined by local crafters. Caroline Borle, president of the non-profit society that operates the market says, “We started with two December markets in 2015, to try it out. Since then we have increased them by one each year. There is a healthy demand from vendors who want to join us at this time of year and our customers really seem to have embraced the opportunity to buy locally for the holidays.”

This year’s offerings include such staples as local eggs, meats and sausages, honey, breads and pastries, jams, jellies and preserves, to beer, chocolates and fudge, soaps and body care products, art and art cards, pottery, jewelry, socks, mittens, hats, wooden toys, dog treats and more. The vendor mix changes each week, however, more than half of the vendors are attending all or at least four of the five days. Customers are encouraged to check out the more detailed information through the market’s website, social media and newsletter.

From Sunday, Nov. 25 to Sunday, Dec. 23, the markets will take place at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the five Sundays leading up to Christmas.
