Art pop-up show coming to Lunenburg
Three emerging artists are presenting their work at an art pop-up show at the Lunenburg Art Gallery the first two weekends in December. A Matter of Scale is an exhibition of art featuring many sizes, shapes and colours. The themes are Butterflies, Beasts and Bold summing up the diversity of the talent at this exhibition. Joanne Van Zutphen, of Liverpool, explores the minute, intricately detailed scales and bold colours of butterfly wings.
Her art is Abstract in concept and painted in acrylics with a microscopic view of colours, texture, shape and line replicating that which is real. Her fascination with these delicate creatures began at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) when she began weaving intricate butterflies on her loom. Today, she is making magic on her canvas, allowing the viewer to enter into the mystery and intrigue. Dani Le Blanc is a self-taught pen and ink artist working mostly in black and white with her detailed drawings of dragons, snails, geckos and ocean scenes.
Her work is bold and realistic with details so intricate that one can get lost exploring new things. This is Le Blanc’s first show exhibiting her talents . For the lovers of fantasy and of nature, Le Blanc is sure to have an image to inspire fans. Le Blanc, from Lower Sackville, raises a busy family with a new puppy and maintains her sanity with her drawing pens and papers. Heather Drysdale is an abstract artist working in bold and dynamic colours. Her acrylic and mixedmedia paintings are layered with lots of pattern and line drawing . She has always had a fascination with colour and texture and has worked for more than 35 years in Italian plasters, trompe l’oeil and mural painting after graduating from the NSCAD.
Now in retirement on the Lahave River, Drysdale is letting go of the boundaries of commercial work and seeing her colours and emotion set free on canvas. The Lunenburg Art Gallery is located at 194B Lincoln St, Lunenburg and the exhibit will be on Saturdays and Sundays on Dec. 1, 2, 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
