Arbutus plans for Christmas meeting
At the Sunday, Nov. 4 meeting of Arbutus Chapter 30 Order of the Eastern Star, plans were made for their Christmas meeting. For the Christmas meeting being held Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m., invitations will be sent to the South Shore Chapters, with an exchange of gifts, donations to the food bank and toys for The Salvation Army. Following the meeting, members of the chapter and guests will be going to Paul’s Café Bistro Restaurant in Liverpool for a meal, each paying for their own meal.
Special guests of the chapter for the Sunday, Nov. 4 meeting were Past Grand Patron Brother Robert Turner, Grand Representatives Sister Dale Wolfe of South Carolina and Brother William Cox of Utah; Grand Chapter Committee member Sister Dawn Wamboldt on Publicity and Courtesy; District Deputy Grand Matron of District 2; Sister Beverly Wentzell, all were welcomed by the Worthy Matron Sister Shirley Shot with a poem Always Nice To See.
Correspondence included a Christmas prayer from Worthy Grand Matron Sister Christine Macgillivary and Worthy Grand Patron Brother Arnold Dempsey; a letter from The Eastern Star Journal committee; a notification from the Worthy Grand Matron on Grand Chapter committee changes; a letter from Mersey Branch 38 Royal Canadian Legion in regards to the poppy fund.
• A number of members were reported as being in hospital or just out of hospital; cards are to be sent to all.
• Thanks were extended to The Queens County Advance for publishing the October notes.
• Dress for December for January and February will be street dress due to uncertainty of weather.
• Worthy Patron Dan Maclaren with Sister Barbara Maclaren as installing Marshall, then installed Sister Betty Dean as organist.
The next meeting is Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.
