Ar­bu­tus plans for Christ­mas meet­ing

At the Sun­day, Nov. 4 meet­ing of Ar­bu­tus Chap­ter 30 Or­der of the Eastern Star, plans were made for their Christ­mas meet­ing. For the Christ­mas meet­ing be­ing held Sun­day, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m., in­vi­ta­tions will be sent to the South Shore Chap­ters, with an ex­change of gifts, dona­tions to the food bank and toys for The Sal­va­tion Army. Fol­low­ing the meet­ing, mem­bers of the chap­ter and guests will be go­ing to Paul’s Café Bistro Restau­rant in Liver­pool for a meal, each pay­ing for their own meal.

Spe­cial guests of the chap­ter for the Sun­day, Nov. 4 meet­ing were Past Grand Pa­tron Brother Robert Turner, Grand Rep­re­sen­ta­tives Sis­ter Dale Wolfe of South Carolina and Brother William Cox of Utah; Grand Chap­ter Com­mit­tee mem­ber Sis­ter Dawn Wam­boldt on Pub­lic­ity and Cour­tesy; District Deputy Grand Ma­tron of District 2; Sis­ter Bev­erly Wentzell, all were wel­comed by the Wor­thy Ma­tron Sis­ter Shirley Shot with a poem Al­ways Nice To See.

Cor­re­spon­dence in­cluded a Christ­mas prayer from Wor­thy Grand Ma­tron Sis­ter Chris­tine Macgilli­vary and Wor­thy Grand Pa­tron Brother Arnold Dempsey; a let­ter from The Eastern Star Jour­nal com­mit­tee; a no­ti­fi­ca­tion from the Wor­thy Grand Ma­tron on Grand Chap­ter com­mit­tee changes; a let­ter from Mersey Branch 38 Royal Cana­dian Le­gion in re­gards to the poppy fund.

• A num­ber of mem­bers were re­ported as be­ing in hos­pi­tal or just out of hos­pi­tal; cards are to be sent to all.

• Thanks were ex­tended to The Queens County Ad­vance for pub­lish­ing the Oc­to­ber notes.

• Dress for De­cem­ber for Jan­uary and Feb­ru­ary will be street dress due to un­cer­tainty of weather.

• Wor­thy Pa­tron Dan Maclaren with Sis­ter Bar­bara Maclaren as in­stalling Mar­shall, then in­stalled Sis­ter Betty Dean as or­gan­ist.

The next meet­ing is Sun­day, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.
