Event to celebrate new perspective of Broad Cove Hall

- CONTRIBUTED

Supporters of Broad Cove Community Hall are invited to view recent changes at a Renovation Reveal, Music and Taco Party next month.

The event will take place Sept. 11 between 2 and 6 p.m. The official opening ceremonies are scheduled for 2 to 2:45 p.m. A fundraising Music and Taco Party (from 3 to 6 p.m.) follows the opening, with proceeds going to funds still needed for renovations. The party will include live blues/rock music with Rhythm RX, a cash bar and a small silent auction with donations from select local businesses and craftspeople.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $10 to hear the band (kids get in free) and $10 for food. Limited servings are available, with advance meal orders only. To purchase call 902-677-2312 or text 902430-4821.

This phase of an extensive accessibility renovation project adds accessible washrooms. It also opens the stage and hall to the outdoors so more public events can be hosted with social distancing.

In a news release Broad Cove Community Association (BCCA) chairperson Mary Frier says, “our hall has always had a stunning seaside location, but you wouldn’t have known it from inside. Now window walls in two directions, as well as a spacious viewing deck, highlight the fabulous views.”

Current renovations are part of the BCCA’S vision to make the hall “warm and inviting for all ages and abilities.”

According to Frier, the group has raised 90 per cent of the funds for this phase of the project through donations from the community, fundraising events and grants from municipal, provincial and federal levels of government.
