RAISING REMEMBRANCE AWARENESS
Each year, members of the Bridgewater Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, place flags on veterans’ graves in Dayspring cemetery by Miller Peace Park. In an effort to raise awareness surrounding the annual Poppy Campaign, the Royal Canadian Legion and to encourage more people to attend annual Remembrance Day ceremonies, local veteran and Legion member Donna Russell painted 46 poppy rocks, which will be placed alongside the flags this year. Pictured on the left are the poppy rocks that Russell presented at the general meeting of Bridgewater Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Pictured on the right are rocks painted to include well-known phrases and poems that Russell will place by the Cenotaph as a reminder.
