Applications available for health-care recruitment community fund

The Nova Scotia government has opened applications for its community program, offering up to $100,000 for projects to help recruit and retain health-care professionals in the province.

The money is available to community groups and municipalities through the $2-million community fund operated by the Office of Healthcare Professionals Recruitment. Eligible organizations must be a registered society, association, non-profit or charity, or a municipality or chamber of commerce.

Projects could include hosting community retention events, developing marketing materials and undertaking programs to make a community more welcoming to health-care workers.

"We know that health-care recruitment is most successful when people who live and work in the community are involved," said Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson in a news release.

"We listened to community organizations and developed a program that has enough flexibility to meet the unique needs of the groups that are doing this work."

Funding is available under two streams, including community identified projects and community readiness supports. Groups can request funding from either or both.

Applications for funding must be received by Dec.
