Tay­lor Vause lends his sup­port to a good cause

Swift Cur­rent Bron­cos for­ward Tay­lor Vause is lend­ing his sup­port to a wor­thy cause as he has been named the 2009 Stamp Out Asthma Raf­fle am­bas­sador.

Vause, 17, was di­ag­nosed with asthma at the age of five but has still man­aged to be­come a high level ath­lete by manag­ing and un­der­stand­ing his asthma and treat­ing it with proper med­i­ca­tions.

In Saskatchew­an 16-22 per­cent of school age chil­dren have asthma.

Pro­ceeds from the Stamp Out Asthma Raf­fle go to­wards ed­u­ca­tion pro­grams for chil­dren and their fam­i­lies, train­ing for health pro­fes­sion­als, an Asthma Help Line for Saskatchew­an res­i­dents to call, sup­port for glob­ally rec­og­nized re­searchers at the Uni­ver­sity of Saskatchew­an in the study of asthma, and re­search to­wards find­ing bet­ter treat­ments and hope­ful, some day, a cure.

The grand prize is up to $140,000 in tax-free cash. The sec­ond prize is a choice of an ex­cit­ing va­ca­tion or $10,000 cash. An­other no­table prize is a pack­age for the World Ju­nior Hockey Cham­pi­onships later this year.

Tick­ets are only $35, two for $60, of four for $100. Any­one pur­chas­ing a four-pack of tick­ets will be en­tered for a spe­cial draw of $1,444 cash.
