South­west ben­e­fits from AgriSpirit Fund

Apair of South­west projects re­ceived a com­bined $16,000 as part of fund­ing an­nounced by Farm Credit Canada through the AgriSpirit Fund.

The larger of the two con­tri­bu­tions will de­liver $10,000 to the South­West Cen­tre for En­tre­pre­neur­ial De­vel­op­ment to pur­chase equip­ment for the cen­tre.

The Lac Pel­letier Re­gional Park will be re­ceiv­ing $6,000 for the pur­chase of play­ground equip­ment for Ona's Beach Play­ground.

In to­tal Saskatchew­an re­ceived $172,500 to sup­port 23 groups, while Canada wide the AgriSpirit Fund de­liv­ered $1 mil­lion to 115 com­mu­nity groups.

The AgriSpirit Fund is a Farm Credit Canada pro­gramwhich de­liv­ers fund­ing to as­sist with cap­i­tal projects and com­mu­nity im­prove­ment projects in ru­ral Canada.

“Peo­ple in ru­ral com­mu­ni­ties work very hard to raise funds for much-needed fa­cil­i­ties in their com­mu­ni­ties,” stated Michael Hof­fort, FCC Vice-Pres­i­dent, Prairie Op­er­a­tions. “At FCC, we care about the com­mu­ni­tieswhere­our cus­tomers and em­ploy­ees live and work. The FCC AgriSpirit Fund helps us to sup­port th­ese projects and work with the in­di­vid­u­als and groups re­spon­si­ble for lead­ing them to strengthen their com­mu­ni­ties.”

Na­tion­ally, a to­tal of 1,374 AgriSpirit applicatio­ns were re­ceived, in­clud­ing 297 from Saskatchew­an. The pro­gram has de­liv­ered $602,400 to Saskatchew­an projects over the past six years and has con­trib­uted over $3.5 mil­lion in fund­ing to ru­ral com­mu­ni­ties acrossCana­da.
